šŸæ This degree sounds fun. Pays like sh*t.

Chasing animals is cool. Being broke isn’t. We show them how to NOT end up in debt.

Inside today’s snack: They’re torn between animal behavior and a stable paycheck.

šŸ„’ Today’s pickle

A lot of the things that interest me involve the natural world like biology, ecology, marine biology, animal behaviour, conservation, and zoology. From what I’ve read, these jobs don’t really lead to much, and biology seems to need a master’s or PhD. Animal behaviour would be the most interesting degree for me, but it’s probably the worst option. Vet nursing seems more secure, or maybe forestry as a substitute for ecology or conservation.

I can’t dedicate myself to study something I don’t care about. Fields like computer science, engineering, and business just don’t do it for me. I know they lead to good careers, but I won’t enjoy them and they won’t bring happiness. I don’t need much money to get by, and part of me wants to just do animal behaviour and accept a minimum wage job if it means I enjoy it more.

But then I wonder if that’s a stupid move financially. What’s the balance of passion and money? Should I be ready to work minimum wage after four years of study and debt? Are any of these options actually worth it?
